If you look at Ed Murray’s latest campaign mailer, it looks an awful lot like we endorsed him for mayor. But we didn’t—I just made a joke about him buttfucking city hall when reporting that Murray was running. I said Murray could be “the first gay man to top city hall.” Har! That minor distinction might slip past folks who got the mailer, which went ahead and printed the joke:
I understand the confusion: The Stranger clip about Murray buttfucking city hall is surrounded on all sides by endorsements—it’s dishonest. The Stranger logo and clip is sandwiched between the words “key endorsements,” lists of people who endorsed Murray, organizations that endorsed Murray, and the conservative daily newspaper that endorsed Murray. But that wasn’t a Stranger endorsement. It was just me saying that if any gay dude is gonna buttfuck city hall, Murray should obviously buttfuck city hall.
