Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, thinks that President Obama is “fumbling through” the US intervention in Libya:

“Where does it stop?” he said. “Do we go into Africa next?”
Um… last time I checked, Libya was in Africa. And to make matters worse, Rep. Marino is not only a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, he’s a member of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights.
Then again, most real Americans don’t know much about geography either, so you gotta admire the GOP’s common touch.

In very mild defense of this moron, when most mouthbreathers talk about that dark, scary, eben heart of darkness that is Africa, they implicitly mean sub-Saharan Africa. So if you were party to this dickwad’s inner monologue, it would probably make sense.

These Libyan rebels are clearly not black muslims, they’re Arab muslims, so they must be in the Middle East… Most likely Iraq or Afghanistan or North Korea.

It would help if the media, political leaders, and aid groups would actually use the names of countries instead of saying “Africa” each time the really mean 1 of 50 nations in the continent of Africa. It is amazing how many US adults are unaware Africa really isn’t a country but a continent. Of course, this isn’t a defense of any Foreign Affairs Comm member who doesn’t know where we are bombing right now. So much for the joke Americans only know the location of countries we have bombed recently.
