There’s a Republican debate tonight at 5 pm Seattle time on CNN. It’s in South Carolina and this debate is co-sponsored by “Tea Party Patriots,” so the crowd should be exceptionally racist/bloodthirsty/ignorant. Further, we’re down to four candidates—Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul—and so there will be fewer distractions. In short, we have all the ingredients for a world-class shitshow.

Won’t you join Dan Savage, Dominic Holden, Goldy, and I right here on Slog as we stare into the abyss? It should be unforgettable, in a Hindenburg-y sort of way. See you at 5.

  1. Good god man. Is it me or are these Republican debates NEVER ENDING. How many does it take?

Since it is going to be a mess outside, I’m going to make some delicious boeuf bourguignon and join you guys for this fuckery.

  2. More importantly, is anyone covering Senator Kastama’s press conference in a few minutes, in which he will state how he will vote on marriage equality?

  3. I wouldn’t watch these things for any less than $250. I realize no one’s offering that, but I just wonder why so many otherwise reasonable people are willing to suffer through this brain-rotting trash for free.

  4. Ugh. I might as well be here. Not like I have anywhere else to be. I do have a thing at 8, but if this debate actually lasts that long, I’m sure we’ll have all killed ourselves by then, and the schedule conflict will be moot.
