Robert Reich:

What we learned in August is something we’ve long known but keep forgetting: The most important difference between America’s Democratic left and Republican right is that the left has ideas and the right has discipline. Obama and progressive supporters of health care were outmaneuvered in August โ€” not because the right had any better idea for solving the health care mess but because the rights’ attack on the Democrats’ idea was far more disciplined than was the Democrats’ ability to sell it.

  1. @1, what if not bringing guns is what lets us continue to have ideas? What if bringing guns, to extend the metaphor, is what dried up the Repugs?

  2. The most important difference between America’s Democratic left and Republican right is that the left has really really bad ideas and the right has discipline and is able to stuff them.

  3. There’s no limit to the grassroots outrage you can simulate if you have unlimited financial resources and vast media holdings at your disposal.

  4. Instaed of wasting money going after Sanford, go after senate Republicans, godamnit! Corrupt, pro-death, anti-health care, liars! No, Obama says he wants to play nice. FUCK THAT!

  5. #2 I think we may be mixing metaphor for what those cowards with assualt rifles are doing. We need to use terms like “Insurance Death Panels” “Profits over People” and use the english language like a shillelagh. Start calling the little shits who shout down people at town halls brown-shirts and NEVER appologize for telling the truth!

  6. And then there’s the reality that it’s much much easier to destroy than to build. And it’s even easier for Republicans to destroy something that is still hypothetical than for the Democrats to create AND defend that hypothetical construct.
It’s the Republican way: go for the cheapshots, and to hell with the country.
