This is not chest-thumping:

President Obama has ‘pounded his chest’ too much and taken too much pride in the success of the mission to take out Osama bin Laden, according to, of all people, George W. Bush’s former Chief of Staff, Andrew Card.

I think the mean word Card should have used is “gloating.”

This, on the other hand, really is chest-thumping:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — House Speaker John Boehner indicated Monday that he plans to hold a hard line in debt-ceiling negotiations.

Among his demands: Spending cuts in exchange for support to raise the debt ceiling — and the cuts will have to be greater in magnitude than the ceiling increase.

“Without significant spending cuts and the way we spend Americans’ money, there will be no debt limit increase. And the cuts should be greater than the accompanying increase in debt authority the president is given,” Boehner said in a speech at the Economic Club of New York.

That is exactly equal to this:

  4. Card’s former boss’s only modus was talking loud and saying nothing. Obama has never pumped his fist or pounded his chest. What do you think that repulsive “Mission Accomplished” display on the carrier deck was? Bush running around in a flight suit, for chrissakes. Crawl back in your hole, Andrew Card.

    I’ve actually viewed lowland silverback gorillas in the wild. It was in a National Park in Eastern Congo. One pounded his chest and another, a small one even stole a ranger’s cap. They were absolutely fascinating to watch.

    I’m afraid that will never happen in your lifetime. Simply won’t. I commend Obama and the SEALSs for this successful operation. But, Obama’s foreign policy is very similar to Bush’s. I agree with this assessment:
