A psychological evaluation of an former Manzanita Elementary School fifth-grade teacher awaiting sentencing for molesting three of his former students says that he may be a dismal candidate for probation and has a long history of inappropriately touching and fondling young girls.
“Moreover, there is a disturbingly predatory pattern to his behavior, working himself into positions of trust as a youth pastor and elementary school teacher where he could prey on his preferred targets,” psychologist David L. Wilson wrote in his evaluation.
Joshua Edward Hoffman, 26, of Redding pleaded guilty earlier this month to three of 12 felony counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under the age of 14…. Hoffman’s arrest in early July wasn’t the first time authorities had scrutinized him for allegedly inappropriately touching young girls.
In August 2001, Hoffman, then 19, was arrested by Glendora police on suspicion of touching an 11-year-old girl, but that case later was dropped by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, police have said. In addition, Wilson’s report reveals that Hoffman was accused when he was 18 of lewdly touching a 15-year-old girl at a church function in Mexico in 2000 and also showed sexually aggressive behavior with a whole series of teenage girls.
Earlier this month, a local youth minister was arrested for lewd and lascivious conduct committed on a child less than 16 years of age.
According to the Starke Police Department, 50-year-old Jeffrey Lamar Carter of Lake Butler was the subject of a complaint by a 15-year-old female victim. An investigation reportedly determined that in January of this year, Carter established a counseling relationship with the victim, a juvenile. Carter communicated with the victim both in person and via the Internet on the social Web site known as Facebook. Communication between the two continued through June.
The suspect alleges that Carter-who was listed on Madison Street Baptist Church’s Web site as a recreation minister-allowed her to look at pornographic pictures stored on his mobile phone. He also allegedly asked the victim to take naked photographs of her body.

While at Marco Presbyterian, Loerop instituted some creative programs and outreach events: Ignite on Wednesday evenings, Insomnia, Spring Breakaway, Back to School Bash, Ski Mission trips, mission trips to Cherokee, North Carolina, Kingdom Kids, and paintball.
“My greatest passion is preaching the gospel, teaching God’s Word, and sharing the gospel one on one,” said Loerop.

It’s amazing that the Marlee Ginter/goat sucking thing got so much attention when classic yellow journalism like this flies completely under the radar. Someone should forward this shite to Loerop and see if he has anything to say about it.
I haven’t read any of Dan’s books and don’t know his youth history. Is he so obsessive about pedophile pastors because he was sexually abused by one? Victims often become abusers, should we be worried about his adopted underage son? If someone were to include Dan on a “Pedophile Watch List” would it be okay?

To be honest, I laughed when I got to the last one just because it was so out of place. It reminds me of “the onion”. The article titles just get you sometimes. I don’t think Dan meant any malice by this.
The last fellow is likely a douchebag, but he’s not convicted of any crime. Doesn’t that constitute libel? Meaningful change is only going to come via the high road.
