Not only is The Lost Symbol number one on Amazon’s regular and Kindle bestseller lists, but Slog tipper Brian informs me that the Kindle version of the Lost Symbol was at least briefly beating the physical version of the book in sales, as in: More people were buying the e-book than the “real” book. This has to be some kind of watershed moment for e-books.

Well, they’re not “buying” the e-Book – Amazon will suck it back into the aether and replace it with the symbol “$” after they decide you only “rented” it.
You don’t have even the faintest idea what you’re talking about, Will.
As a new Kindle owner, I have to say that rubbish genre fiction is EXACTLY what the Kindle is best for. It’s revolutionizing the romance market, for instance. For books that require indexes, page numbers, charts, footnotes, foreign characters, endnotes, searching (so painful), bookmarking (ditto), or any kind of typographical tomfoolery, like indents, not so much.
