Daily Scans posted a video of the new official Marvel Comics line of sexy superhero Halloween costumes for women:

This is really kind of gross of course*, but it’s not like Marvel is the only company making dumb sexy Halloween costumes, right? But the most interesting part of all this is that the Spider-Woman (excuse me, the “Black-Suited Spider-Girl”, because a “Spider-Woman” would be gross and old and stuff) who is doing the modeling at left is former Miss California Carrie Prejean.

The photos on Disguise.com, which show the notoriously conservative and self-proclaimed Christian wearing knee-high shiny boots, a black mini skirt and belly-baring low-cut top in one ensemble, were taken last year when Prejean modeled for the Women of Marvel costume line, according to TMZ.

Way to bring one of the world’s most famous homophobes into your sexism, Marvel Comics. You really got the grand slam this time.

* I will never understand the compulsion of comics fans to lust after sexy female versions of male superheroes. I mean, I do understand the compulsion behind it, but I guess I’ll never understand why they’re so open about it.

  1. Nerds look at fucking tentacle porn dude, you think they’re going to shy away from chicks with cleavage and fuck me boots just because they have batman horns?

  2. I don’t know, there seems to be a flash of “What the fuck am I doing here?” evident on Spider-Girl’s face before she turns and sprays the, um, webbing.

  3. This is the sort of “work” she has been reduced to by the whole Perez Hilton kerfluffle. She reaps what she sows. Fine. A little funny, even.

But that’s not enough, is it?
Now it’s got to be an issue of Marvel being homophobic by proxy?

This is even dumber than when you went after the Penny Arcade guys because they didn’t get the memo on which conference halls are on the gay black-list. (That WAS you, wasn’t it?)

Seriously, dude. Can’t you just laugh at her predicament and lighten up on the homo-McCarthyism?

  4. I’m sure Marvel screens the political views of the models that are hired to show off the costumes produced by a licensed third party vaguely related to Marvel’s various properties. That’s totally meeting a paltry baseline of managerial responsibility.

  5. I was thinking that Marvel has no shortage of scantily clad female characters on which to base “sexy” costumes. AS a comic fan I know of no other comic fans attracted to sexy femal versions of male heroes. Then again I am not the typical comic fan.

  6. Carrie Prejean isn’t too big a leap (in spirit) from Walter Elias Disney, whose racist, xenophobic ghost now owns Marvel Entertainment.

  7. Wait…so did this happen before the Miss USA pageant? Because I’m pretty sure that until Perez Hilton asked her that question, we did not know nor did we care what her views on marriage equality were. I seriously doubt the organized conspiracy to “bring one of the world’s most famous homophobes into (Marvel’s) sexism”. It’s not like she’s holding up a “Protect Opposite Marriage” sign in those photos or something. I’m not defending Prejean or the Marvel-Disney Industrial Complex, it’s just that implication seems like kind of a stretch.

  8. And correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Spider-Woman in the comics a big ol’ LEZ? I wonder if Carrie only supports “opposite-heroism”…

  9. The idea of thoroughly vetting models’ political views before they are allowed to walk down the runway wearing this year’s sexy halloween outfits is a novel one, but it doesn’t go far enough. It should be expanded to include anybody who poses for saucy pictures of any kind. The last thing a self-respecting liberal wants is to find out is that he’s been masturbating to a picture of someone who disagrees with his position on single-payer healthcare, genetically modified foods or DOMA.

  10. Yes, unfortunately, I know men who would do her. They don’t have taste and they’re questionable in many other ways–that I won’t elaborate on here. My heart breaks.
    Live and learn.
And yes she’s a cunt. I think about all those honorable women in Afghanistan or Iraq who get acid thrown in their faces and wonder why not the impotent Anita here?!
    Sigh.

  11. Spider-Woman (excuse me, the “Black-Suited Spider-Girl”, because a “Spider-Woman” would be gross and old and stuff)

No, it’s because Spider-Woman is a completely separate character who has nothing to do with the Venom costume. It’s like getting Supergirl and Superwoman confused. It’s not a sexist thing, its a franchise thing. Sure, they didn’t LAST, but they were MADE. Jesus, Paul. Don’t fall into this trap.
