This is glued to a parking meter just down the street from our offices:

(In case you can’t get photos on the internet where you work, it’s a piece of paper that reads “THEY WON’T HAVE TO BURN THE BOOKS WHEN NO ONE READS THEM ANYWAYS.” Below that is a photocopy of an upside-down-and-backwards dollar bill, in front of a cartoon television.)
Well said, Mr. Crust-punk-whose-favorite-book-is-probably-Fight-Club. Well said, indeed.

The non-word “anyways” drives me bonkers.
i’m pretty sure you aren’t the only person who reads books, mr paul constant.
why are you assuming a kid did this?
or a Fahrenheit 451 reference.
@1, I kind of don’t like it so much either, but it’s pretty tough to make a case that a common colloquial variant of a word should be considered a “non-word”…
‘anyways’ is in the OED.
They won’t have to burn the books because the Internet will make them irrelevant.
that’s a tragedy lyric. good song. real ‘punk’ to post a lyric on a parking meter…
@6: Just because it’s in the OED doesn’t mean it’s right. The OED is merely descriptive.
Someday in a future dystopia, the people who say “anyways” will stand against the wall with the people who say “alls.” The vanguard of the grammar revolution will assure they get their comeuppance, and then we’ll purge the OED of all that is not worthy.
Muhahahahahaha!
@9 – I am offended by your use of ‘assure’.
@9: Wanna duke it out? I’ll bite your kneecaps off.
DOH! @10. TVDinner FTL!
