Not every Republican is miserable about the thought of Trump and his supporters at the convention. Some of them are terrified.
Trump’s rallies haven’t exactly been peaceful, well-mannered affairs. So far, most of the violence has been directed at protestors (and the occasional journalist) since those are the people causing trouble for Trump. But what happens if Republican delegates try to turn against him?
Riots. At least that’s what Trump predicts. That should be fun to watch, depending on whether your definition of fun includes the possibility that people could be killed.
Here’s what Trump said will happen if he doesn’t get the nomination: “We’re way ahead of everybody. I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically. I think you’d have riots.”
So, that’s him basically giving his permission to protestors to start rioting. Thanks. They’ve definitely heard you loud and clear.
“Riots aren’t necessarily a bad thing,” said Scottie Nell Hughes, a Tea Party wacko who’s been campaign with Trump. She said this on CNN.
“It’s not riot as in a negative thing we’ve seen in the past,” she added. “I know they would not resort to violence.”
Oh no definitely not. There would never be violence at a Trump event.
Ben Carson is now doing his best (which could easily be mistaken for anyone else’s worst) to back Trump, added that “there would be a lot of turmoil if the establishment tries to thwart the will of the people.”
Hahaha, Republicans disregard the will of the people? Never.
“Political parties choose their nominee, not the general public,” said Republican National Committee Member Curly Hagland this week. Looks like the party is still scrambling to find a way to let delegates ignore the votes, even in the face of Trump’s threats of actual physical violence.
So all in all, it should be an extremely entertaining convention, except for the people who might get killed.
Also this week, a reporter for USA Today asked Laura Bush if she’d vote for Trump, because the whole world is on the edge of their seat waiting for the keen political insights of Laura Bush.
“I’m not going to answer,” Laura said. “Don’t ask that.”
