The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with Live Soundtrack by The Invincible Czars
The 1920 German Expressionist masterwork (and malevolent freak fest) The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari will take on a hypnotic new level of otherworldliness with a live original score. Austin music ensemble the Invincible Czars will perform their original, updated soundtrack for the screening, adding mysterious new layers of sonic depth to the silent flick. The film follows a fairground “doctor” and the unfortunate sleepwalker who murders at his command—it’s a gem of early cinema that sorta-kinda invented the entire horror film genre, and influenced directors like David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick.
