Welcome to The Stranger's guide to Bumbershoot 2019! For the 49th annual edition of the festival, we've spotlighted some of our favorite musicians and comedians who will be performing at one of the many stages spread around the Seattle Center grounds this Labor Day weekend (August 30–September 1).

Chase Burns and Rich Smith discuss the pop appeal of Carly Rae Jepsen. Chase writes from the perspective of someone who's only a passing fan, while Rich comes out as a true fanboy. Jasmyne Keimig breaks down the current persona of Tyler, the Creator, and his album of the same name, Igor. Leilani Polk profiles Seattle's horn-fueled soul band the Dip, who play a coveted evening Bumbershoot slot. Jasmyne, Leilani, and Dave Segal pick six more Bumbershoot musical performers that are worthy of your eyes and ears. And Dave suggests five comedians that will make you laugh amid all that grooving.

And note: Reentry is back on the table this year, which means that if you need to run to get more weed or want to grab a quick, cheap burger from Dick's, you can still get back in later in the day.
