I was channel surfing the other night and happened upon Frank Capra’s 1932 film American Madness, just in time to see Walter Huston deliver a depression-era speech on economic turmoil, and the role of the banking industry in it, that could as easily be delivered today as it was 80 years ago. Watch it. It’s kinda eery how we’re repeating history.
Now if only real bankers were as selfless and heroic as Huston’s fictional one, we’d get our economy moving again in no time.

OccupyWallStreet/OccupySeattle/OccupyEverywhere have had me thinking about the Howard Beale “Mad as Hell” speech a lot lately.
