  1. gross. Its also highly annoying that at least twice O’Reilly referred to her as “Governor Palin.” Last time I checked she quit that job.

  2. @1, Sometimes unfortunately, the proper address for a once public official is the highest rank they have held. There are exceptions, though, and Bill Clinton is properly addressed as Governor Clinton.

  3. @4, “…start listening to her.” No thanks, I have no interest in anything she has to say, but I’ll happily read why you believe her opinions merit attention. Please be concise.

  4. @4 Do you honestly think that none of us listened to her before we started “trashing” her? Jesus Christ, man, she was the vice presidential nominee during the last election! We’ve all heard the Katie Couric interview, the VP debate, the “Real Amurika” speech, the “death panels” rants…my point is, we HAVE listened, and what we’ve found is this: her lack of factual knowledge is astounding. Her ignorance about the way this country works seems to know no bounds. Every speech she makes is nothing but a series of buzz words and GOP boilerplate talking points, with little or no original thought included. She may have knowldege in other areas, but as far as it concerns politics, she does not deserve to be taken seriously.

  5. Notice how many times she repeats the phrase “average Americans”. It reminds me of Tony Zeigler on the Westwing telling President Bartlett, “You are not just folks, you’re not plain-spoken Do not do not do not act like it. Then make this election about smart, and not… Make it about engaged, and not. Qualified, and not. Make it about a heavyweight. You’re a heavyweight.”

  6. i love how oreilly contends that his ratings vs. CNN’s prove that FAUX doesn’t have ignorant right-wing commentators. i don’t believe he actually thinks this – it’s a propoaganda tactic.

  7. @9 Yeah, but actually rebutting her “points” would be annoying and boring too. Examples:

“No, you cannot see Russia from your house.”

“There are no death panels. You literally made that up.”

See, the idea that she should be taken seriously and her points seriously rebutted is insulting to any reasonable person.

  8. I hate to agree with Bill but he is right-
Dan is scared shitless of Palin, and is obsessed. He wishes he had balls like Sarah.

  9. Having balls is one thing, but Palin doesn’t have the brains to know what to do with ’em, which makes all the difference. And three posts in a single day does not an obsession make. Now three posts a day for three or more days–that would be an obsession.

As for taking her seriously and rebutting her, at what point do we just accept that Palin and her rabid followers are out of touch with reality. I think she’s taken way too seriously as it is.

  10. This is really a gold mine for Fox. Everyone likes hearing Palin speak… the right wingers, because they think she represents them well, and the left wingers, because they like watching her make a fool of herself.

Like Howard Stern did on his radio show, she’s likely to pick up an enormous audience of both lovers and haters. Advertisers know it, and Fox will rake in the dough and ratings and stroke their golden goose.

  11. @9 – not that others haven’t eloquently rebutted YOU, but per your suggestion that the “blanket trashing” of Palin by the media is “boring and annoying” – what I find more than annoying – in fact, dangerous – is that the media is even giving her a platform to speak in the first place. Not only do I disagree that we need to “logically rebut” the things she’s saying…I think it’s a travesty that she is allowed to spout blatant, unapologetic lies, but thanks to “fair and balanced” we need to take those as fact and prepare a reasoned response.

Bullshit. Presenting both sides of an issue has become more important to the media than presenting actual facts. Just because somebody in a position of power opens their mouth doesn’t mean what they say has any bearing on reality, and it certainly doesn’t mean we need to start preparing statements to refute lies that never had any business being broadcast in the first place.

In conclusion, @11 and 13 FTW.

  12. @18: Is Dan really that obsessed? I haven’t seen more than the occasional mention of Caribou Barbie on SLOG.
And I’d have to disagree with your assertion that the good Mr. Savage has no balls. Dan’s balls are so big, he has a boyfriend because women aren’t manly enough to come within ten feet of him. (Yeah, and also because he feels sexually and romantically attracted to men rather than women. But it’s mostly the manliness factor, especially in this fine month of Manuary.)
