NEW YORK, NY (March 23, 2009) — Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway is attached to star as iconic performer Judy Garland in the film and stage adaptations of Gerald Clarke’s biography “GET HAPPY: THE LIFE OF JUDY GARLAND,” for which The Weinstein Company (TWC) has optioned the film and stage rights. The announcement was made today by Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of TWC.

I really don’t see why this is necessary. I mean, hello!?

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. Judy Davis was outstanding as the older Judy Garland, a performance she did in the same year she pulled off Nancy Reagan, I believe. However, Tammy Blanchard was UNCANNY as the younger. She gave me goose bumps.

  2. So many names and so many titles to look through… who would have ever thought that Cecil B. Demill would come to town today riding in on a candlestick?

P.s…. did anybody catch the news tribune story on the building codes and fire access? important STUFF considering you are looking at a VERY HOT DUO of recognizable firestarters….

  3. @4 I think Williams is more selective with her roles. She almost exclusively does indie stuff, whereas Hathaway only does quasi-indie stuff when she thinks it will get her an Oscar.

  4. I love Anne Hathaway, but she’s all wrong for Garland. The MAJOR problem being that she’s 5’8″ tall and Judy was 4’11”! I don’t know how they plan on dealing with the unless they’re going to ‘Benjamin Button’ her body. This is really bad casting. Somebody do something!
