Sharon/Athena/8 looks way too skinny in that photo.
She *is* way to skinny. But it’s not enough of a fault to detract from her many, many other charms. She tried out of the role of Starbuck, and got 8 as a consolation prize. But being 8 is way more challenging acting…
I hope Deanna is back for the finale. She has to be, right?
I like how Katie Sackoff *isn’t* monster hot. It makes her character more interesting.
Good god, that woman has no arms!
Those ladies need to eat a sandwich.
So, what else is worth watching now that BSG is over? And don’t say “Big Love”, I was very disappointed with their second season.
Breaking Bad on AMC, that Paul Constant liked as well, gets my vote right now.
Good lord. Someone get the Asian girl a cheeseburger, stat!
at least, after tonite, i won’t have to watch sci-fi channel anymore. even the ads for their dismal made-for-tv “events” are unwatchable.
Is this Paul Constant’s idea of attractive?
#2, unfortunately she’s kind of a bad actor.
#7, I second Breaking Bad, despite some rather unbelievable situations on the crime drama side and some unbearably boring situations on the family drama side. Don’t expect The Sopranos or The Wire, but still enjoyable if only for the “meek guy grows balls” underpinnings.
Grace Park makes Tricia Helfer look like a cow. And poor Lucy Lawless. She used to be so hot on Xena and now she’s just… boring.
Good to see that in the distant future ladies will still (again?) be wearing 2004 pants.
Soupytwist: Ah, but Lucy Lawless stole nearly every scene she was in. And, that’s no small feat in a series with Mary McDonnell at her peak.
Frankly, they could replace nearly any of the emo-Apollo episodes with one of her boiling water in Caprica city, and I would’ve been pleased.
w7ngman: I though Grace Park improved as the series went on, but yeah.
frack you and your fake fracking “robots” right in their no-one-gives-a-shit-about-this-fracking-show’s neck.
also, i blame you nerds for the propagation of that HORRIBLE HORRIBLE word!
also, can’t wait, i’ll be watching it!!!
Oh Grace Park, I would lick her nether regions all day long…
They’re all too skinny. Women! Eat something!
None of them are American either. Two Canadians and a Australian. No real point to that, just something I always liked about the show. Lots of Canadians.
Huh?
Lucy Lawless looked much hotter, than she does in this photo, on a recent episode of Flight of the Conchords.
JG@14:
I can’t overstate how much I agree with this statement. Though more for what it says about the emo-Apollo episodes than what it says about Lucy Lawless. I actually stopped watching for a while when the whole Apollo/Starbuck/Anders things was going on. Ugh. Poor Dee.
Also, I have to say, if Helo, Athena, and Hera aren’t reunited at the the end of the show, and alive, I’m going to be very, very fucking pissed. Also, it would be nice if we could have a scene of Cap6 licking an ice cream cone very, very slowly and carefully. But I’ll settle for the former.
@18:
Well, considering the show was shot in Canada…
They have these really funny ideas up there, like, Canadians should work in things made in Canada.
Crazy, eh?
And everybody just shut up about the episode until I gets a chance to download it later tonight!
Captrica is set to be a good series, I have little faith in it but more faith in that then the new syfy BS, I don’t have cable and most of the stuff I download is from canada anyway, owned.
@15 THANK YOU. I absolutely loathe the word ‘frack’ and will be happy to see it leave our shared vernacular as rapidly as possible.
p.s. will be watching this with my girlfriend.
D was weak and obnoxious.
@3 Katie Sackoff IS the hottest woman on the show IMHO.
@3 – Katie Sackoff *is* monster hot as Starbuck. Whatever monster hot means. She is the only reason I can get through those overly cheesy soap opera moments. Starbuck can be my harbinger of death any day.
Hardly the best sci-fi show on TV. I’m a big fan, but this season has been wildly uneven. And it feels like it’s limping to a conclusion.
The one in the foreground is H O T
You mean it won’t ever be on SyFy?
*sigh*
@26, do you really not know what “monster hot” means? Or are you just being Professor Snape-style snivelingly passive-aggressive? Here’s a hint: use context to gather clues as to what it might mean. Good luck with that.
@25, 26: Agreed. I think Starbuck is way more fuckable than any of the Cylons.
Also, I just realized that there are only three non-promiscuous main female characters, and one gets boxed, one is continually dying of cancer, and one shot herself in the head. Not that everything’s coming up roses for the other female leads, but at least there’s no moralizing on behalf of abstinence/monogamy. (Yes, you could argue that Athena married Helo and hasn’t slept around, but Eights in general are extremely sexually manipulative, so I don’t think she counts).
These questions better be answered, or I’m going to be frakkin pissed:
1. What exactly is Starbuck? Why is she the harbinger of death?
2. What is the deal with head people? Are they angels/aliens/beings-of-light?
3. Where have the head people been leading them, and to what conclusion?
And finally:
4. Are there any gay characters that aren’t crazy and/or cylons??
There are only three non-promiscuous main male characters, too: Helo, the Admiral, and Anders. And Helo only if you don’t count Boomer’s deception.
@32: Lt. Hoshi.
@32/34 – That really pissed me off. Ron D. Moore finally admits that he’s never bothered to have a gay character before and laments not doing it. Then he pats himself on the back for writing Gaeda and Hoshi as gay in webisodes they made after the series was over (but played before the second half of season 4). Why even bother? It was such an after-the-fact thing, and so completely tacked on, that it would have been better to not bother at all.
There are no gay men in outerspace. Only horny, bisexual women.
That being said, this is still the best science-fiction drama ever.
is there a bar around town that will be showing this tonight?
I must admit, one of my bigger peeves with the series is the writing for most of the female characters. With the solitary exception of President Roslin (and perhaps Admril Cain), most of the female characters get hysterical as a means of getting what they want–characters that are otherwise strong and smart.
The male leads–with perhaps the exception of Baltar–get upset, but tend to achieve their goals through intelligence, cunning and argument. I cannot imagine, say, Saul Tigh being written as screeching on the floor to the point of being dragged off by guards when he is denied something he wants. For the men, it’s gritted teeth, drink and forceful words. I wish the female characters were treated with the same respect….
Jonathan – the REAL question is why doesn’t Jamie Bamber pose for beefcake shots with Tamoah Penikett and James Callis.
I think we can all agree that they are NOT too skinny – but they better wear tight pants just so we can be sure.
those are nice tatties.
was there some other point to this post?
Geezuz. This was a post about a really good sci-fi show which happens to have GREAT roles for women. And the comment section just turns into a party to criticize women’s bodies. What a bunch of jack asses.
@33: I wouldn’t count Anders, he totally hooked up with girls beside Starbuck (the Final-5 girl who killed Callie, the other female pilot (I’m bad with names)), and was willing to let Starbuck use him for sex post-breakup.
The Doctor is a semi-important character who appears to have no sex-life…
@37: I don’t recall a scene where Deanna gets hysterical to accomplish something, but I could be forgetting something.
They’d better have a space porn scene with someone frakking in the resurrection goo. Those things are so made for good old fashioned spine glowy action.
Golob- if you haven’t read it, you might enjoy this article on feminism in BSG over at io9

Hunter@40: Riiiiiiight. Because JG posted that photo to point out the three best actors on the show.
Too skinny! Hilarious. Guess what, we Asians are sometimes just really skinny. And yet — better sit down for this one — we’re still within the healthy BMI range. Shocking if you’re perspective on what constitutes “normal” is hanging out with average Caucasians, I know, but absolutely true!
Maybe it’s because many of us know how to stop eating when we’re not hungry? And we don’t grow up with eye-rolling anti-vegetable pickiness that seems so common among Americans. Asian parents don’t put up with that bullshit when literally a generation ago we were starving. No, it must be because tofu emasculates us and makes us a weak race.
I might be the only human being in the Western Hemisphere trying (and failing) to use a Wii Fit to gain weight (the rest are too busy playing Super Smash Bros professionally and going onto Survivor to look shockingly skinny on TV). It ain’t easy cuz I don’t do protein shakes or like the mainstays of Western cuisine (butter, cheese, beef, and corn syrup) all that much. I bet if you didn’t, you’d find out how easy it was to get as skinny as her! You don’t even have to exercise, although I admit that getting skinny just by not overeating won’t make you necessarily healthier with all the fat building up around the organs…
@45: Grace Park wasn’t nearly that skinny when the show started. She wasn’t “scrawny” at all, she was strong, as was appropriate for the characters she plays. The fact that she has dramatically lost weight seems indicative of TV-star body dysmorphia, not a genetic predisposition.
Aislinn @ 46: Hooray for TV-star body dysmorphia!
I would frak any one of the women on this show, including Laura Roslin (pre-cancer).
Tricia Helfer is HOT!!! (and I like dudes)
Well, Germanic women frequently are, monkey.
When work gets busy I tend to lose weight too. Some people eat a lot more when stressed, others eat less.
