Lost is on tonight! Finally! There is some sort of recap or something at 8:00 p.m. and then the two-hour premiere starting at 9:00 p.m. I can’t breathe…

Discuss: Is John Locke alive or dead?

  1. I don’t want him to be dead =
Maybe the explosion sent them back to before he died, and now he’s okay? Locke is my favorite character.

For the first time, I have no-one to watch it with. Anticipation mixed with self-pity is a weird state of mind.

  2. Dude, he’s dead. Dead, dead, dead, face in the sand, decomposing on the beach, dead. The devil – er, the Man in Black – done took his body.

But oh yeah, the explosion. Maybe Locke will be still alive. maybe he’ll return as the evil Man in Black, still disguised as Locke, and Locke’s flyblown body will stay on the island. I don’t know. It’ll be interesting to find out.

And what about all the Tailies who died? Are they all coming back? Will we get to see them? And how the hell are they going to get Walt back?

Oh, hell, now I’m speculating on Lost mythology. HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO GET ANY WORK DONE NOW?!?!?!

  3. He’s dead.

It’s not Smoky, he serves the man in black. Read up on your Egyptian mythology.

But if we do a way-back reset, then Locke may be alive – then.

  4. I honestly believe that the big plot device this season will be alternate realities; One where the bomb blew up the island (so the Losties never crashed), and one where it didn’t and the leaking exotic matter transported the Losties back to the future.

This way, we get to see an alternate reality where they landed safely and no one died (as well as Desmond, Rousseau and Juliet never making it there in the first place), and a reality where they’re dropped in the whole Jacob clusterfuck in the present.

(So in that sense, Locke is both alive and dead- depending on which reality you believe to be true.)

  5. Depends how far you trust wikipedia, but I’m going with dead: “John Locke (pronounced /lɒk/; 29 August 1632 โ€“ 28 October 1704)”

  6. Who is Jacob? Who is the Man in Black? Why are they fighting? Why are they on the island? What do they have to do with the Others?

  7. 1)In our primary timeline, Locke is dead.
2)It’s no secret that this season features an alternate timeline…in that, Locke appears to be “alive”
    3)Flocke=MIB=Smokey.
4)Flocke/Smokey is reportedly a bit of a hardass in tonite’s episode.
5)A better question is: “Is Jacob the Good Guy and MIB the Bad Guy, or is there more to it than that?”
6)We will cry at least once tonite.
7)We will see “Dead” people again…
8)Richard Alpert is now a series regular!!! (and, he’d better have a shirtless scene this season) And, he gets his own epidsode (Ep 9).
9)Please let there be an end to the STUPID Kate/Jack/Sawyer love triangle…lame.

  8. If you go to the library you can read up on Hathor and all the other Egyptian dieties that are in Lost. My main question is who is Libby?

  9. I totally read “Everything That Rises Must Converge” by Flannery O’Conner because Jacob was reading it in last season’s finale. I thought it might give me some insights, but man was it a depressing book! Humans are bad!

  10. Michael: I agree. I think Richard Alpert is a very interesting character, and he knows a lot of stuff that we wish we knew. Plus, he looks great for an old guy!

  11. I thought this season would have one continuous timeline, without all the jumping back and forth of season 5. As for Locke, I thought he was genuinely dead, with a replica of his body being occupied and controlled by someone or something else.

  12. I can’t wait for this show to end so I can read a one-page recap of the whole thing on Wiki or something… Started watching the first season but realized I just couldn’t make the time commitment, no matter how intriguing the plot lines….

    Bottom line, baby! ๐Ÿ™‚
