Here is an event so rich with attraction, it’s hard to know where to start. First, there’s the centerpiece film, Heaven and Earth Magic, the 1962 stop-motion masterpiece (concerning a woman, a watermelon, and a toothache) created by legendary folk historian,
experimental animator, and Pacific Northwest native Harry Smith. Then there’s Dennis Nyback, the Portland-based film historian
who’ll be executing a multi-projector re-creation of the film’s original exhibition style. Finally, there’s the live
