But when viewed through the lens of a furious American Family Association, it becomes much more entertaining. From this morning’s AFA Alert, “Fox’s ‘Family Guy’ goes too far; file a complaint with the FCC”:
On March 8, Fox network aired Family Guy, a perverted and sickening program, into the homes of millions of Americans. This episode was rated TV-14 DLSV by FOX, meaning that in the network’s opinion it was appropriate for 14-year olds. It aired during prime-time. The content of this program was so explicit that I can’t even begin to describe it here.
Click here to watch these scenes or read our detailed review. WARNING: These scenes taken from the Fox program Family Guy are highly offensive.
I’ve literally never, ever laughed at a Family Guy. But when described in detail by the AFA, Family Guy becomes almost funny. Among the detailed offenses:
Peter leaves his son Chris in charge of the family while he spends time with his gay partner. Upon his new role, Chris immediately passes gas in his sister’s face and knocks out his mother, Lois.
Peter lies in bed with his rear exposed and moans in pleasure when a horse, which he assumes is his wife, licks his rear.
Their child, Baby Stewie, eats cereal covered with horse sperm that resembled milk kept in the refrigerator.
Even worse than the episode’s interspecies analingus and infant jizzplay was its treatment of Christians:
Even more offensive is Fox’s view of Christianity. At a “straight” meeting, the speaker talks to gays about Jesus and tells them, “He [Jesus] hates many people, but none more than homosexuals.” Incidentally, Pepsico helped sponsor this program.
You really cannot get the full effect of the show’s portrayal of Christianity without watching the video or reading our review. You will hear the tone and sarcasm very clearly.
The FCC has a duty to enforce the law and fine Fox for this sickening violation of broadcast decency standards. In addition, your local FOX network affiliate did not have to air this episode. Obviously, they do not care about your local community standards.
Family Guy and the American Family Association: Two crappy institutions that miraculously bring out the best in each other. More, please.

Sorry, but my vote goes for the Family Guy as pretty damn funny. Seeing that The Simpsons and South Park lost it years ago, both should have been canceled at least 10 years ago, The Family Guy and Robot Chicken are two shows that keep on giving.
Family Guy has tons of liberal humor. Peter riding an elephant, says “Hey Lois, look, it’s two symbols of the Republican Party: An elephant and a big fat white guy who’s threatened by change.”
OK, now Robot Chicken that’s not so bad …
I shall turn away from Family Guy if I am going to ever again be subjected to more than 10 seconds of ancient Conway Twitty video. Where was teh AFA to protect me from that?
@9 – it’s viewable even w/out the teevee, on the Internets, on that Hulu . The hip have no escape.
For Pete’s sake.
The only funny thing about Family Guy is Stewie, and always has been.
Oh, for fuck’s sake Schmader…take the stick out of your trendier-than-thou ass and loosen up. Sure, Family Guy lays it on a bit thick and is a little too amused with itself, but _never_ funny? I still laugh my ass off every time I see Stewie play “Marco Polo” with Helen Keller in a pool.
Take your head out of the “Things It’s No Longer Cool To Like” section of the hipster newsletter and live a little.
I am gay, and and LOVE family guy.
I lived in Rhode Island, which makes it even MORE funny.
It makes fun of everyone… that is awesome.
And you know what Bette said “F*^k em if they can’t take a joke!”
I’m sorry you don’t like Family Guy.
Marco Polo with Helen Keller. That’s the Family Guy demographic right there. And a 10 minute animated fight sequence between a fat man and a rabbit. Pure comedy genius.
I love the show. That episode in particular was fucking hilarious. And it was clearly put together to offend the AFA on purpose. Some of the shit they said about Bible-quoting Jesus freaks was hilarious.
Although I prefer American Dad.
@ 28? You let your seven year old watch Family Guy? What the hell, read him a fucking book or something!
while Family Guy has seen better days and is not as funny (in 2009) as DELOCATED and TESTEES, there have been many brilliant moments. There were several episodes from ’99 and 2000 that were way ahead of their time. Schmader, seriously, remove the stick.
What would your perfect sunday night line up look like? Mine would look like this:
Family Guy
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Trailer Park Boys
My Name is Earl
American Dad
Family Guy = often very funny.
David Schmader = also very funny. And smart and cute.
Seth MacFarlane = smokin’ hot, possibly a genius.
Glad I could clear all this up.
funny, funny stuff
What, you can’t embed clips on the stranger? Laaaaaaame.
http://www.hulu.com/watch/5569/family-gu…
I sent a support mail via AFA to Fox. You should, too…they can track these numbers and see how small their “majority” is.
Seth MacFarlane is fucking hot!
But my favorite Family Guy is when Stewie’s collecting the money he loaned to Brian. HA HA!! “Give me my money! Where’s my money?!?” Stewie procedes beats the shit out of Brian, shoots his knees out and then torches him with a flame thrower! Ah sweet sweet memories!!
Ah worf, that is a perfect saturday night. Except that I pee myself whenever I see…
Day Man. Fighter of the Night Man. Champion of the Sun. Master of karate and friendship.
How sure is the FCC that the AFA’s “complaint” is not, in fact, “frivolous, vexatious or otherwise malicious” to the point of needlessly wasting Your Tax Dollars just to process identically-phrased, carefully scripted-to-the-point-of-boilerplate complaints (with occasional erratum in spelling, grammar/syntax and punctuation) coming, for the most part, from lower-income or economically-disadvantaged “white trash” dominant ZIP+4 areas, to the point of sheer harassment?
And IIBC, the FCC has issued new guidance limiting complaints about “obscene, indecent or immoral” programming to such coming from those who actually saw the broadcast in question; the better to control frivolous and time-wasting boilerplate needlessly wasting FCC time and resources.
Worth recalling here, too, is the Supreme Court’s three-point test for determining legal obscenity, as per the 1973 Miller v. California ruling:
And then again–correct me if I’m wrong–the AFA’s desire for “prevailing community standards” vis-a-vis obscenity are more than likely to be unwritten “local tradition” based on zero tolerance in some socioeconomically-depraved backwater of the Deep South, the kind not even Wally World wants to open a store in.
I find it amazing that parents and their ridiculous association have not figured out that they can make sure that no one watches Family Guy by turning off the damn TV. I understand their plight but could care less. It’s not up to the rest of the world to baby sit their ever so delicate kids minds it’s their problem and their’s alone.
“The Internet is too violent.” “shows that perpetuate violence should not be shown on TV”. ” How can they show trash like this . Don’t they know it’s evil”. Get a life and learn that the only way to truly stop kids from watching, “such terrible shows” is to be proactive. keep your mouths and your foolish opinions to yourself. Be an adult and in charge.
Just a few of the many thoughts that cross one’s mind when we hear about people who do not like what they see or hear. Simple point, and it’s very easy to do. Stop watching listening. Throw out the TV. Teach your children that humor is one of the few things that make life worth living. and of course one sure way to spoil that is to have people without the sense God gave a toad demand that we stop living because they wanted children without having to face the responsibility they have to make sure they do as they tell their precious rug rats.
Family guy is truly one of the most entertaining, irreverent, enjoyable shows of it’s kind ever to hit the airways. It was brought back with new episodes because the public demanded it. They have never looked back and have gotten funnier with each show. I for one feel this show ranks up there with the Simpsons for longevity and has no equal.
So good people. As i said. Get a life and let the rest of us enjoy the things we like. Find some other venue where people actually give two cents about your opinions and your never ending search for others to watch over your children’s fragile minds. Turn off the TV. Throw it out if you must but a stop trying to spoil the fun the rest of us.
I really like Family Guy.
Also, I think it was implied that Stewie may or may not have been eating horse sperm, and he didn’t care either way.
if you don’t laugh at family guy why do you watch it?
this group filed a complaint to the fcc over a 2 second shot of a protest sign on an episode of the simpsons because it said “what would jesus glue”.
i must concur with all those that think seth is hot and sexy. he is! and he can sing too! he is also smart as a whip and seems to have an endless knowledge of film, television and theatre along with literature.
I am no hipster, and I own two tvs and enjoy watching various crap, as well as movies, tv series, etc.. However, Family Guy fucking sucks, it is based off of old memes and skits being playing out repetitiously the whole time, Back in the day it actually used to have a plot. Now the whole basis of the show is the fact that its made up of high school humor vignettes and has no plot. No thanks, I will pass.
wow …all i can say lol….is there anything people wont complain about now? if you think im a robot for laughing at family guy…then you’re just an ass.cant think of anything else.who cares if they make fun of religion.i am a christian but umm who gives a fuck if it makes me laugh im gonna watch if you dont like it then…how about you dont watch it and shut the fuck up
if you don’t laugh at family guy why do you watch it?
Two possibilities: one if you live with people, the other if you don’t:
1. Part of the normal give and take of associating with other human beings. Then they’ll in turn watch “5th Grader” with you.
2. To see if it still sucks like it always has. This usually follows some seemingly normal person’s praising it.

this whole thread is soooo weird.
family guy is very funny. because its so offensive and smart. of course its not the best show on TV, and lots of normals watch it. Who cares? dont watch it. McFarlane is the first person to admit he doesnt need defending. he makes fun of every facet of pop culture, including you weird hipster trolls.
its kind of like the “Prince” test. if I meet someone that claims that they have NEVER enjoyed at at least one minute of family guy, they either have never watched it for more than a couple of episodes(which means they dont know what they are talking about and therefore are assholes), or they are just fucking liars. or they have absolutely no sense of humor.
I am sick to death of the slavish adoration people give to this hit and OFTEN miss cartoon. The show has flaws. It’s okay to admit folks. There are gags that are very funny, but the writers are walking a very fine line, ecspecially this last season. Lazy, lazy writers. If you admit the flaws, demand quality, the writers will resond. They will feel need to improve. “Conway Twitty” people. Open your eyes and stop kissing this shows ass. “Conway Freakin’ Twitty”!
Wow, its sad how people curse and attack each other just because of opposing view points. Blogging to attack others–that’s nice…spew your venom on others for calling out the truth.
We all get the same amount of time in a day…if you and your family choose to watch the “Family Guy” I pity you and them. Life is a gift! Nice convenience in the modern age is that we all get to have down time. And we all like to have down time but come on…FG is a big zero in every category…mindless, bathroom humor…you could fart and make yourself laugh and you’d be better off…
“What a man thinks, he is…” you may have heard this before, but if you don’t think what you watch, what you read, and what you listen to has any bearing on your life…you have a WHOLE lot to learn…you’re ok with your seven year old watching a show that has a kid eating cereal and sperm?
and before you make fun of Christians you should try it first…attacking isn’t necessary–it saddens our hearts that this show makes a mockery of God, marriage and family but perhaps you hold none of those sacred so you choose to attack instead acquiesing and showing honor. If you wish to defend “your right” to watch FG do so without contempt and animosity. Most of the comments on this site may be from people who probably believe in God when its convenient but don’t ever darken the door of a church and have no problem dropping the “F” bomb regularly. A relationship (not religion) with God would transform your life more than you can even think or imagine. Try giving God 30 minutes of your time a week instead of watching trash TV like this show and dropping the “F” bomb every chance you get. Some of you will be offended by this but–the truth will set you (and your family) free…I am praying for you and hope God blesses each of you!
Whoever you are, loser, with your stupid, pathetic little “blog”, you suck and I hate you. The Family Guy is the greatest tv show of our generation.
Best episode ever was Not All Dogs Go To Heaven where Brian the dog admits he is an atheist. I think this blogger takes offense simply because he is Christian. Maybe perhaps even a supporter of the Westboro Baptist Church. Maybe perhaps only shops at WalMart. But definiately believes in an invisible sky buddy.
My God, not even once? Well, there’s no accounting for taste I suppose. But I’ll be honest, you kinda sound like a joyless jackass.
Freedom of expression . You need to believe in the freedom of expression for everyone or you do not believe in it at all.
Haha come on?? A show being controversial because a fictional baby eats horse semen covered cereal? Well I’m going to be laughing my ass off when people discover that horse semen is the cure for cancer. Horse semen covered cereal will one day be the American way and we will have one show to thank for it.
As for the person who gave FG crap for having a ten minute fight between Peter and a “Rabit” (I believe that was a chicken I’m gonna be disappointed if I missed one with a rabbit)… that’s only a small part of the show. And God Forbid they use a type of comedy that they don’t normally implement. Stop being such a whiney little tit mouse.
All the jokes that FG used that offended this Christian had truth to them, and that’s why they were funny. Just becuase a TV show makes fun of the country’s majority religion does not mean that it’s too apalling to be aired. to the commenter, “christisking”: maybe the books I watch, the videos I read, and the faces I subtlety fart upon do make me who I am, and I don’t need someone to pity me just because Family Guy is a core part of my media exposure. I think I’ve turned out fine, and my opinion of myself is far more important to me than that of society. Why did you assume that all these people here have kids and why did you assume they let their seven year olds watch family guy? I don’t have a kid, and if I did I would not rely on a shows cancellation to be what determines what they watch, it is a parents duty to regulate what their kids see.
Go ahead and pray for me. Since I’m a family guy fan I must also be a satanist, so I’ll be praying for you also (To get a sense of humour).
And if those “Hipster” kids are now finding it trendy to hate on FG then that is awesome. What will they not do to be a hip kid?
Anyone who hates Family Guy hates it purely for the sake of generating the illusion to people they meet that they’ve been through some sort of substantial decision making, or maybe you fear conformity because it’s the only way you know how to identify “individualism” within yourself instead of going through the effort of developing some kind of coherent opinions of your own. Family Guy is hilarious, and anyone who tells you otherwise is being ignorant.
I don’t like family guy, but apparently it has an audience. It dumbfounds me. I’m not here to bash anyone that likes it but it is tasteless and I’m surprised that it’s still on broadcast TV. I did enjoy the chicken suit fight yet I’m totally on board with the AFA.
Family guy is pointless crap. It used to be a good show but now its just overused jokes and pointless cutaways aimed at middle schoolers and dumbasses. King of the hill is a far better show in every way.
I strong don’t agree with you 90 King of the Hill can Suck it they aren’t well made as the Simpsons and American Dad combined so they aren’t as great as Family Guy but they are better than King of the Hill
