For some reason (bias against gay stuff? Bias against men with scruff? Bias against horizontal stripes?) the Leonard Bernstein tribute last night on the Grammy’s got left out of the Slog AM highlights. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good! And it was simple. No silly dancing with pointed toes. Ben Platt sang “Somewhere” from West Side Story—that’s it! But it’s not an easy song to sing, and certainly not an easy song to sing non-annoyingly, and yet he figured out a way. Plus, of course: lyrics by Sondheim.
