To the 40-something Seattle housewives holding a glass of wine right now while reading this: Naples in Veils is for you, and, yes, grab your Hitachi. When Adriana meets Andrea at an occult Neapolitan ceremony at her auntโ€™s house, it seems like lust at first sightโ€”that is, until Andrea turns up eyeless and dead on Adrianaโ€™s autopsy table the next day. In an aggressively sensual mix of murder, sex, and mystery, this film is an enthralling story of violence that masks itself with the exquisite. Nipplesโ€”I mean, Naplesโ€”may be in veils, but the veils can always be torn off.

Naples in Veils screens tonight and tomorrow (June 5-6) as part of the 44th annual Seattle International Film Festival, which is happening through June 10. More recommended SIFF films here; and all SIFF films here.

(Apologies: we could not find a trailer with subtitles. But never fear, the film will be shown with them at the screening.)
