Why watch this film? To find in the actions and voice of Bernie Mac
the signs of his impending death. Strangely enough, he seems very much
alive. Nothing about him says, “I will be dead in a few months.” On the
other hand, Isaac Hayes, who passed away a day after Bernie Mac, August
10, is clearly marked for death. What will spook you most are the three
or so appearances he makes in this road-trip comedy about two washed-up
soul singers. Hayes was a ghost before his all become nothing. recommended
