For the record, that awful-looking Sandra Bullock movie is based on this book about the evolution of the offensive tackle position in the NFL, as well as 2009 first-round NFL draft pick Michael Oher.
The likely-vomit-inducing differences between the book and the movie are well summed up over on Kissing Suzy Kolber:
Michael Lewisโ โThe Blind Sideโ was a captivating book tracing the rise of the left tackle positionโs outsize importance in the modern NFL game and how that evolution had far-reaching enough influence that it could lift up a kid, who happens to be Ravensโ rookie Michael Oher, who would otherwise fall prey to poverty simply because he possesses a rare combination of physical gifts. It carefully and thoughtfully touched on sensitive themes of race and class largely without resorting to cheap ham-fisted sentiment.
So Hollywood gets their mitts on it and, of course, it becomes a standard issue mawkish Sandra Bullock.
Blarg.

Did she not receive one for Speed?!?
Aaargh, Steven Soderbergh, Brad Pitt, and Aaron Sorkin couldn’t get Moneyball made, but lame Sandra Bullock pushes this project through?!
That’s a shame. Oher’s story is fascinating.
I’m shocked. SHOCKED! That a Stranger writer reads Kissing Suzy Kolber…
Why? Stranger writers love dick jokes too!
I am in the center of the Venn diagram where Slog reader meets KSK reader. I think maybe we’re not as rare as one might imagine.
