Grassroots is the movie adaptation of former Stranger writer Phil Campbell’s book about former Stranger writer Grant Cogswell’s 2001 run for Seattle City Council, and it’s being featured as the closing-night film for SIFF 2012. Best of all, the film’s found a distributor and will be back for a proper theatrical run soon after SIFF. Take it away, Variety:
Goldwyn made the announcement Wednesday during the opening of Cannes. It has slated a June 22 release for the Seattle-set pic to take advantage of the Seattle Film Festival—where it will have its world premiere on June 10—and be a part of the pre-Election conversation.
