You know how people are always like, “Sarah Palin? I hate her!” and “Sarah Palin? She is terrible!” and “Sarah Palin? I don’t care for that woman!”? Well listen, rest of the world. I don’t like Sarah Palin either. I LOVE HER. She is the best. She is hilarious. She won the election for us! Remember? I have never been so entertained.

Lucky for me, and you, and anyone else who is a fan of the massive black pit of failure into which Palin continues to furiously and roguishly dig herself (every day brings a new gift!), she’s about to be on the Oprah Winfrey Show. TODAY. The only thing that could make this better is if it was the Tyra Show. Ohhhhhh, Tyra.

Christopher Frizzelle and I will be live-Slogging the event—in which Palin discusses Levi Johnston’s upcoming public penis unveiling—right here from 4 to 5 pm. Please join us. Thank you.

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. I love that she could have just shut her mouth and gone away, but instead she continues to destroy the republican party. For that, I love her too.

  2. Puppetry of the penis, ok on the silver screen. I’m glad there’s no name recognition with them guys. between 4 and 5? i’ll be at the trainstation bar. next time maybe

  3. I too despise her politics, but love the public trainwreck that she has become. Her stupidity and hypocrisy are only surpassed by Carrie Prejean (I’m convinced these two must be related somehow).

  4. this is going to be fantastic. clearly the most exciting thing to happen on the slog in awhile! i can’t wait to not work for an hour to watch this…

  5. Sarah Palin should be strongly encouraged in her ambitions. Dream ticket in 2012: Obama vs. some Republican vs. Independent/Constitution Party candidate Palin. Sarah!

  6. @13: Reagan had a long and storied political career by 1979. He may have been incompetent, but he had paid his dues and notably did not quit his governorship mid-term to do a book tour. Also, he was a comforting old white man who looked good in a suit running to head a party that loves comforting old white men who look good in suits. Palin is a fading beauty queen with questionable sartorial tastes running to head a party that flat-out hates women.

    Not scared.

  7. @13 and 15. I tend to side with 13 here. The thing is Reagan’s presidency made something like a Palin presidency possible. Of course Reagan couldn’t have behaved like Palin and been elected because he working in a different political tradition, a tradition he then helped to change with his “postmodern” presidency. Post-Reagan, a vapid personality like Palin is indeed a frighteningly real political threat. Our mocking of her is symptomatic of this threat.

  8. @15: You’re probably correct, but if she gets the right team behind her there’s plenty of time for rehabilitation and myth-making. Remember that Americans have short attention spans, love stories over substance, and prefer myths over facts. Just sayin’.

  9. One thing people are forgetting is that Hispanics are going to continue to be a rapidly growing voting base, and Obama appointed the first Latina to the Supreme Court… while the republicans ridiculed and mocked her.

I’m eager to see how the repubs explain their behavior over Sotomayer with the hispanic voters when the next election cycle comes around.

  10. @18: Mexican and Central American immigrants don’t see her as one of them. The Spanish-speaking underclass in our society is markedly divided and does not reflect the peppy, all-for-one-and-one-for-all rhetoric of its rainbow-y leadership.

  11. @22 –
You’re right. Reagan’s campaign also ignored the law by covertly negotiating with a hostile foreign entity so the Iranian hostages were kept captive and under threat of death until after Carter’s administration. How else to explain the sheer coincidence that Reagan was able to announce the hostage release during his inaugural speech?

  12. @25, don’t forget KAL flight 002 also. Despite some very public lies, it was absolutely a spy plane, and Reagan knew it. And the innocent passengers who got killed? I guess they were just acceptable collateral damage.

  13. I love public trainwrecks. And I simply cannot wait for the public penis unveiling. With the hockey stick. My money says he’s on the small side and a lot of retouching is involved.
