Oddly enough, my journey to Marxism, which was completed in 1997, began with “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser.” His show brought the complicated world of economics, the very ground of this and all other human societies, into my bedroom. In 1976, the elegant Louis Rukeyser (a Hegel in the eyes) faced a blast of hot air from the future and coldly rejected it: “I certainly hope not.”

  1. I really miss Rukeyser’s quick wit and great sense of humor.

    Don’t be so sure to assume Rukeyser was rejecting the future. His response might have been a little joke in response to Rosen’s, “…and perhaps in other places.” Lou’s eyes dart down to his lap, and there’s a little smirk on his face.
