Whoa! He is so good with audiences – this is going to turn out WAY better than the pilot he did for HBO a couple years ago.
Good on him! Hopefully I’ll be able to watch it somewhere online.
First off, how is Dan the “inadvertent creator” of the IGBP? As I recall, he, um, created it. Quite advertently.
Secondly, is this going to be one of the most bleeped programs on expanded cable (or whatever it’s called)? I don’t watch Jersey Shore, so I don’t have a good baseline.
And congratulations to Dan, of course!
“Inadvertent”?
I, too, wish to acknowledge to advertenity of IGBP.
I will have this Tivoed for me for sure. Cograts to Dan!
Well, this is hardly breaking news (Dan mentioned it a week or so ago), but I’ll inadvertently wish him luck anyway.
Good catch on the “inadvertent” remark! Is he suggesting it was really all Terry’s idea? Le scandale…
I don’t agree with the wording, but it makes sense. They are alluding to the fact that when Dan and Terry posted the first IGB video, they weren’t imagining or expecting that it would become an international “campaign.” That’s the inadvertent part.
Co-host: Tila Tequila
Now THIS is an outlet for Dan to battle abstinence-only sex ed (and similar bullshit)!
I am very curious what kind of language will get through the bleep-filter. You would think there would be nothing left!
@10, plus picture-in-picture commentary by Snooki!
@9, that makes sense. Thank you.
Sounds fun, but I’m wary of anything involving MTV. @3 has a good point about censoring, it might make things tricky.
Dan spoke at my college a few years ago and it was a great time, though I don’t know I’d want to sign a TV release… It was also a bit of a drinking event at my school.
The power behind the throne, as it were, gus….
This is awesome. MTV, at its best, has been incredibly progressive and sex-positive. Growing up, I saw my first portrayals of gay adults on The Real World. Gay daters on Singled Out. Furries and threeways and blowjobs on Undressed.
Does anyone else remember the “Fight For Your Rights” commercials? My favorite: two skater dudes build a half-pipe in their backyard, and at the end they high-five and kiss. Teenagers. Watching that when I was 16 was awesome.
So, congrats Dan, and good on MTV for being a resource to the next generation of sex-positive adults.
@15, I don’t remember ever seeing any adults of any kind on The Real World.
Well, duh. This seems like a match that should have been made years ago. Can’t wait.
@16 When I was 12, those people were old!
Just remember your piddly friends back here on SLOG, Agenda Boy.
Best Gawker comment thus far:
He’s going to look ridiculous with a poof in his hair. But at least the bar fights will be more articulate.
Make a deal for people to watch on line Dan. I won’t get cable even if it’s you on teevee.
Complete and total awesomeness.
Congrats, Dan!
Remember when they bleeped out his entire explanation of pegging on Colbert? And that was at 11:30pm on Comedy Central. Maybe if they air the show after midnight. Online Dan, get it online somehow, bitte. I’d prefer to support your advertisers and not have to torrent the show or watch it on surfthechannel.
And of course, fucking awesome Dan.
What a bunch of whiny pissants most of those gawker commenters are.
What happened to the HBO show?
15
a nice example of your homosexual agenda at work indoctrinating credulous kids about the gay.
nymag: Dan Savage Scores MTV Pilot Givin…
THIS I would get cable for.
Congratulations, Dan! The world sadly needs more of your perspective, so I hope the pilot gets picked up.
I don’t watch TV — so of course I don’t get cable — so I hope these will be posted to YouTube or buyable from iTunes or something.
@28, a very Hugh Laurie-esque pic of Dan in that link of yours!
