Dick’s Drive-In is going to open its first new location since 1974, and hungry Deluxe eaters can vote for where they think the new one should go.
You vote by area, the exact location will be determined later. The options are:
North (Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Edmonds, South Everett)
South (West Seattle, South Seattle, Renton, Burien, SeaTac, Tukwila)
East (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Sammamish)
On another note: Can we get some vegetarian burgers on the menu?

None of these locations do a thing for me but I voted North by virtue of, if we buy a house someday, that’s the direction it would likely be.
Vegetarian options at Dick’s? Pfffft! I venture a guess they’re doing just fine with meat only, and I would appreciate if the hippies didn’t try to ruin one of the last places that is pure carnivore!!!
If you want a veggie burger in Seattle, Burgermaster has you covered.
I’m veggie and normally pushing for veg burgers too–but their menu hasn’t changed in like 50 years. It wouldn’t feel right.
How about a Dick’s at SeaTac airport?
@2
How does having the option of a veggie patty ruin an entire restaurant? Anyways, I would argue that Dick’s sub-standard burgers already do a pretty good job of ruining that place — but my opinion is based on my going to In-n-Out growing up.
Fuck veggie burgers at Dicks. Dicks is meat cause that’s what’s for dinner! MEAT!!! DICK!!!
On another note: No.
@6 –
Simple. To appease the hippies, they would have to reserve an ENTIRE grill for the non-meat “burgers”, which would have the unfortunate side-effect of slowing down service for the loyal patrons who come for the meat, at the expense of the ten hippies that would come (and that is per year, because hippies, as we all know, can’t afford Dick’s), and thus ruin the experience that is Dick’s.
Take your hippie business somewhere else. The rest of the world doesn’t have to conform.
Any burger joint can give you a vegetarian burger, just order it with no patty.
@10 – Not at Dick’s! It’s either a regular or Deluxe, and that’s the way it is! (Praise Jesus)
@10 Dick’s doesn’t do special orders.
@6. You don’t seem to get that markets have a sliding scale. Dick’s isn’t operating on the same end of the burger market as in-n-out. If you want a Seattle competitor to In-n-out, go to the Red Mill or Kidd Valley. (I think both have veggie burgers, too.)
Dick’s is going for the cheap, instantly served, incredibly greasy, no-frills, old school burger market. And they win hand’s down. Don’t go to a walmart and complain their jewelry counter doesn’t match up to Tiffany’s.
(A further aside: in-n-out is way over rated. I’m rather fatigued of hearing self satisfied californians feel superior about a product that is all about brand and not content. you are welcome to move back to cali whenever you want.)
Oh, and vegetarians, how much energy would you waste trying to get veggie entrees at a world renowned steak house? Or a book store to sell more computers? Or a shipyard to offer more cars for sale? Don’t bitch and moan about a place that built a successful multi-generation business model on serving fast, tasty, greasy MEAT. just go someplace else. sheesh. this is seattle. there are veggie options out the butt in this town. Leave our Dick’s alone!
I’m not a fan of their soggy fries, so I don’t care where they go. I’d be much more excited about a Sonic.
That said, West Seattle offers little in the way of hamburger competition. The only real burger joint there is a tiny place called Zippy’s, where the line usually runs out the door.
I think the South end could really use a Dick’s. The business would thrive down there with Boeing, the airport, and all the shoppers at Southcenter.
dick’s in west seattle!!! ftw
@14 – Fuck West Seattle.
That is all.
West Seattle, absolutely.
North – sure, that could work.
And: I don’t eat red (or grayish) meat anymore, but Dick’s + veggie burger = not quite right. It might be OK if they gave it a funny name, so customers had to order a “wussy pussy patty” or something.
Rainier Valley bitches!
I want one right outside my door. Or in my kitchen.
west seattle is gonna take this in a landslide.
Do the right thing and put in in the South End. You can put in on MLK and Orcas across the AM PM next to the Filipino community center. The business you get would be incredible and the community needs it. We can be rid of that awful pawn shop and rent a center. Come on Vergas (dicks) do it. Do the right thing in the Valley. In a community that needs an anchor biz. No veggie burgers.
I haven’t been a vegetarian for years, but the pussy, pansy-assed whining of meat eaters is just as tiresome now as it was then.
If Dick’s keeps it “drive-in” model (as opposed to its QA motif), then there are affordable space issues, yes? I’d love to see this go someplace really convenient (and I’m a vegetarian), but it seems to me that with the costs of real estate, this would almost have to go somewhere on the eastside, or way down south, or way up north, right?
I’m voting West, just to piss off michaelp.
I hate you, Ben.
That’s fine, I hate you, too.
*glee!!!!* Now I finally feel I have earned my “People hate me on slog” button! Thanks, Ben!
I vote for a Dick’s next to the @28 location.
I’ve got two of the buttons …
West Seattle.
Or, hell…put one down in SoDo by the stadiums.
I second the vegetarian burger option!
San Francisco.
@6 – In n Out makes a good burger, but their approach to french fries is totally unforgivable.
West Seattle or Rainier Valley seem like the obvious choices. There’s already a Dick’s pretty far north at Lake City and 125th but nothing really south of Downtown as far as I know.
I just remembered Dag’s in White Center. Now I’m sad. and hungry. Can limp Dick’s fries bring back my childhood? I need a candy cigarette now.
Anywhere but Seattle and North…West Seattle-sure, but Eastiders and Renton wouldn’t be too bad, right by The Landing, or on Coulon Beach Park like right next to Kid Valley!! And it’s where I live 😉
I love the idea of a Dick’s at SeaTac airport. I never eat at Dick’s, but they’re trying to have more of a Northwest motif at the airport, and what better way than our own homegrown burger chain?
oh man, a veggie burger would be awesome! Dick’s are all over town near where people are out late at night and usually the only (cheap) thing open. countless times at the end of the night my friends and roomies have been able to get grub and I come home hungry.
The next time I walk into a vegetarian dinning establishment I will politely ask my server if they have any meat options.
Dicks is fuckin gross. I would rather have one single delicious Rain City Burger (Roosevelt!), any one off their HUGE and unique menu, than TO EAT A BAG OF DICKS.
I love how people get so upset whenever the word “vegetarian” appears anywhere. Most vegetarians I know would not go to Dick’s for a veggie burger even if they were offered there.
