Last year, perfectionist chef Scott Carsberg shut down his super-great (and super-stuffy, and super-spendy) Lampreia. Now, on the same corner in Belltown, he puts every iota of his intense genius into Bisato, his bar and restaurant serving small plates averaging around $10 (niceties of service you donโ€™t see elsewhere still included). Mark Bittman of the New York Times has called Bisato โ€œone of my favorite restaurants in the world,โ€ and you will, too. The penurious can save a bit at the new happy hourโ€”select cocktails, wine, and beer for $5โ€”while being transported by Carsbergโ€™s simple but stellar, socks-knocking-off food. (Bisato, 2400 First Ave, 443-3301, happy hour 5โ€“7 pm)

  1. i’ve had quite enough of ordering eight $10 small plates and leaving hungry. i’m ready for a $10 MEDIUM plate resaurant.

  2. The cheese course is a bargain but yeah…a little too precious for the casual feel of the space. Hot waiters live in fear of the chef. Boys, nicer chefs do exist. And even though he is an “artist,” he should still act like a decent human being.
