Is it true that goths die for your brunch?

We attract a collage of different customers—young people, retired people, and young couples starting families. I’m not sure what about us appeals to goths, but we do. Everything we serve is vegetarian. On the weekends the whole restaurant is filled with talking and laughing. It is a beautiful environment.

What about this restaurant appeals to you?

It is run by the spiritual group of Sri Chinmoy (of which I am a part), whose basic philosophy is to be one with the world and promote harmony in the universe. We believe that everyone has a spot; it’s a matter of finding what you like to do and doing it. Our group believes in service to others, even on a basic level, such as serving people breakfast.

So are you employees or volunteers?

We’re employed and paid.

Do you believe that spirituality makes the food more delicious?

Yes, we pray and meditate every morning before opening.

And what would you recommend for a first-timer eating here?

The Little Sicily, which is made of scrambled eggs, our homemade pesto, mozzarella, and tomatoes.
