- Cupcake Royale
Last month, to celebrate Gay Pride month, Cupcake Royale offered up “The Gay,” which was a rainbow-covered cupcake available for $4, with half of the proceeds going directly to the It Gets Better Project.
Their hope was to raise $5,000 for the organization. Well, they exceeded that expectation. In fact, they doubled it! Tomorrow Jody Hall, founder of Cupcake Royale, will present Dan Savage and the It Gets Better Project with a check for $10,000.
The public is invited to attend the event—not only will Dan and Jody both be speaking, but a Pride Foundation scholar will also be there. And! They’re going to bring back the Gay for one day! Should you need a sweet, rainbow-colored treat.
It starts tomorrow at 4:30 pm at the Capitol Hill location of Cupcake Royale.

Are the cupcakes going to be dried out like the rest of the cupcakes they make?
Obviously you haven’t been to Cupcake Royale since their first year in existence. They improved their cake recipe long, long ago, rendering a vastly “moistier” cupcake. Geez, try one already.
Fucking hell, that looks delicious.
Nice work, Cupcake Royale!
That is wonderful! Well done, Ms. Hall!
@2 – It’s hard to judge the cake when it is overwhelmed by frosting. Sorry, but CR’s cupcakes are gross.
I love their cupcakes — the cake-to-frosting ratio is perfect.
Wait, I’m confused. Someone please tell me how a project that is free to use (to anyone with a webcam and a computer) actually needs $10,000? Where the fuck is that money going again?…
