Fuck you, they’re mexi-fries. And it’s really sad to see this go. The Wallingford one is full of douchebags that charge extra for using a debit/credit card. *le sigh*…15th Ave W is my only way to go…

@2 What new location? I don’t think there is a new one. There were already locations in Wallingford, one on Rainier ave., one on 15th going toward Ballard, and one in West Seattle.
I think Taco Bell used to do tater tots too, and actually put some spicy seasoning on them. For some reason the Mexi-fries were better.
As long as the location by the Ballard Locks is still there, they can detonate every other Taco Time for all I care.

Yah sure, because every freaking cocina and street vendor south-of-the-border sells deep-fried, reconstituted potato nuggets – why, it’s right up there with nachos and cripy corn tacos on the authenticity scale! In fact, “Mexi-fries” are so common down there, they’re practically considered the National Food of Mexico!

sometimes you HAVE to satisfy the urge for bad Tex-Mex fast food…and, Taco Time is WAAAAAY better than Taco Smell.

Mow that hurts! I worked as “shift manager” (got to mop the floor and put the money in the safe) in that store in 1966. Kept my roommates alive with leftovers.
@7: you’re thinking of taco bell’s Mexi Nuggets, which were only available on the west coast. Sadly, taco bell discontinued them in 2004 or so.
I just call them all “Mexi-Tots” and have done with it. No offense to cute little Mexican children is intended.
@3, it’s against the credit card service agreement to charge extra for using a card, and if you write to VISA or Mastercard and tell them a business is doing this, they’ll yank their account.
@11: Well, just north of the border we love to eat potatoes in many things, but mainly in Potato and Egg Tacos.
@18 Not everywhere on the West Coast. One of my Taco Bell fanatic friends has a story about trying to order mexi nuggets at a TB either East of the mountains here or somewhere else on the West Coast during a road trip and getting looked at like a total racist. The people working that particular TB had never heard of them. Heh.
Perhaps @21, but I’m guessing by “potato” you mean an actual potato, pulled from the ground, sliced and fried as Yahweh intended, and NOT some overly processed conveyor-belt extruded slug of pre-molded potato-and-flour mixture.

Why are all the fast food places being torn down?!?! This is a terrible travesty. Now where do I go to get non-soggy, non-Dick’s french fries? This is crap.
@20 Fnarf Speaks the truth. The bodega I frequent used to always charge 50 cents for buying anything with card under $10… last time I was there they didn’t, and I noticed the sign stating the policy was gone. I asked the guy behind the counter, and he said that someone had reported the managment’s policy to Visa/Mastercard- who in turn threatened to yank their account. That’s all it took.
(Though let me say that I can empathize with small business owners for having such a policy- when you’ve got such a small margin of profit, paying Visa 50 cents per transaction for something small like a pack of gum actually costs more money than it’s worth. However, big chain stores and gas stations trying this? Fuck em.)
I’ve eaten at a Taco Time once, and it gave me food poisoning. So I’d definitely agree with 12 that eating at such a place is adventurous. Obviously the several dozen of you don’t agree, but when the food I have is meh at best, and it makes me sick, I certainly ain’t goin’ back.

Can anybody tell me what the seasoning is that they use on taco times mexi fries? Its what turns tater tots into mexi fries, Also they have not tasted nearly as good for a while and I suspect it is because they quit using trans fat. please quit trying to save my life!
