Piecora’s has been dishing up New York–style pizza at 14th and Madison for a couple of decades, and it’s always good, but every once in a while they serve me a slice that seems like the best pizza I’ve ever had. During Piecora’s exceedingly generous weekday happy hour (3–5:30 pm), a slice of cheese pizza and a PBR costs a mere $3. (Don’t want beer? Make it two cheese slices for $3.) As a certified New York (born and raised) I declare Piecora’s to be the best slice in the city. By far. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner in the dining room…it was top notch.
Great place if you live on the Hill.
Highly recommended.
No place that puts raw zucchini on a pizza has the right to call itself “New York style.”
Piecora’s may not be the worst pizza in the city, but it’s definitely the worst pizza I’ve ever had here.
Piecora’s used to be decently good, but every slice or full pie I’ve had from them in the past few years has been off-putting.
I also don’t like that the slices are cooked a second time, making the crust burnt.
I’d more recommend hot mama’s; you can quibble about the Authentic NY style, but it’s consistently tasty, and it feels like a neighborhood-y, dive-y place.
