The best thing at Pike Street Fish Fry has nothing to do with fish. It’s the pulled-pork sandwich. Yummy, salty, sloppy pork on a Macrina roll, topped with pickled cabbage and salsa verde. It’s $6. The other best thing at Pike Street Fish Fry is the friesโmagically crisp, served in a cup if you get them to go, especially delicious with chile mayo and curry ketchup (yes, get two sauces for dipping, and go back and forth). The other other best thing about Pike Street Fish Fry is it’s a block from Cal Anderson park, where future stars of track and field are providing free entertainment constantly. (Pike Street Fish Fry, 925 E Pike St, 329-7453. 11:30 amโmidnight.)
