It’s hard to say goodbye to an old friend, but an ancient Taiwanese demon dog statue can help fill the void. Before they close, Thaiku and Fu Kun Wu are auctioning off their awesome collection of Asian antiques, kitchen appliances, and a warehouse worth of chairs, tables, and barstools. Hot items include a full-size black and red rickshaw, a gold pagoda shrine, a towering chest of wooden drawers, vintage opium pipes with an old-timey ad encouraging anyone in reading distance to “SMOKE OPIUM,” and, as previously mentioned, a painted wood statue of some dog/horse creature that looks like it was pulled straight out of an H.R. Geiger sketchbook. If you want an up-close look at the items before the auction, Thaiku offers a free preview between 8 and 10 pm (or check out the stuff here).

Oh no! I didn’t know Thaiku was closing. I guess I don’t make it over to Ballard enough.
Damn…this sux!!!
Bummer about Thaiku. They’re one of the only Thai restaurants in Seattle with meals that were also available in little noodle shops in Thailand.
