With an abundance of stacking chairs, collapsible tables, and low slanting ceilings, Angie’s Tavern in Columbia City establishes the distinct comfort of a rec room. Pool tables, dartboards, and gigantic flat-screened TVs fill the room, hiphop pours from the speakers, and fliers affixed to the wood-paneled walls advertise the perpetually inexpensive food specials—a chili bowl ($2), a double cheeseburger ($3.50), or a slice of pizza ($2.50)—all served till closing time. There’s no official happy hour, but Angie’s booze remains cheap around the clock, with pints of Red Hook, MGD, and Bud or Bud Light available for $2.25 whenever the joint’s open.
