Description: A casually elegant Belltown restaurant
specializing in French and Japanese cuisine.

Did you just say French AND Japanese? Are you drunk?: Yes.
But regardless of that, Gambas’s dinner menu features choices from
either style (filet mignon, tonkatsu pork loin). Also, all
entrées come with miso soup and there’s a sushi bar right in the
middle of the restaurant.

Scenery: Cozy, dark, and accented with plenty of black
decor—such as the tablecloths and the sushi bar’s sparkly granite
countertop.

Unexpected uses for black tablecloths: Tools for subliminal
weight loss (color therapists believe they work as appetite
suppressors).

Other diet tips employed in the magical realm of color
therapy:
Avoid red—it’ll make you hungry.

Happy hours: Mon–Fri 4–7 pm, Sat 11 am–3 pm
and 4–10 pm.

Happy-hour drink specials: $2 bottles (Bud, Bud Light) and
premium hot sake deals ($2 for 4 oz., $4 for 8 oz.).

Happy-hour food specials: Discount sushi—ranging
$1–$1.50/piece (Tamago Omelette, Tai Red Snapper) and
$2–$3.50/roll (spicy salmon, albacore). recommended

  1. Oh, poor Gambas. I really hope they do well, but I wish they had done a little more research into the neighborhood before opening up a nice restaurant right next door to Kelley’s (“the scariest, meth-iest bar in Seattle”).

  2. Agreed – the owner’s a lovely woman, but even several weeks ago she seemed to be having serious remorse about moving in next to them. She even warned us to be careful when leaving.

I’m still having dreams of their sushi sandwich, though. GodDAMN.
