Description: A combination art
gallery/beer and wine bar
on Capitol Hill.
Scene: Strolling smatterings of art lovers, various and
solemn groupings of board-game competitors.
Decor: In the front gallery, Tracy Boyd’s drippy acrylic
portraits; in the back lounge, a jukebox stocked with soul records and
a supernaturally resilient Mylar balloon (having drifted to the ceiling
during a birthday celebration, it has since remained, even after a
direct shot with a BB gun).
What the bar name means: Red—specifically, orangey
red.
Other thesaural reds: Amaranth (reddish rose), alizarin (deep
red), falu (even deeper red), brazilin (“natural red 24”).
Happy hours: Tues–Sun 4–7 pm.
