Couldn’t they at least have the decency to re-title it The Original Snoopy Exercise in Futility Machine? Or The Original Snoopy Elbow Grease and Frustration Factory? Or The Original Snoopy Frosty Child Labor Palace? Or The Original Snoopy Ha-Ha-Hope-You-Didn’t-Actually-Want-A-Snow-Cone Plastic House-Shaped Box of Disappointment? Or The Original Snoopy Summertime Fuck You Jamboree?

I mean, really. Show me an Original Snoopy Sno-cone Machine that has actually produced a snow cone, even once, and I’ll show you a beagle that can fly a goddamn plane.

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. Totally depended on the ice you used. I remember making many-a-snocone out of an old busted-ass snoopy.

I also remember trying to use one at my uncles house and wanting to kill myself.

They do make sweet lego man forts when you’re done with them.

  2. I had the “Snoopy in his Bugati” toy when I was a kid.

It was electric powered formula 1 racer…with Snoopy.

    It made equal sense.

  3. I can’t remember if I had this, but I DO remember having the Snoopy Soap Dispenser. I wonder if that has anything to do with my obsessive hand washing…

  4. My sister got me one for Christmas last year, along with some booze. I’ve been quite happy with the quality of its alcoholic-shaved-ice production.

  5. I have one of these:

Best damn sno-cones I’ve ever had. Way better results than several automated ones I’ve tried. Yes – I like slushies a lot.

I’m not sure why the one on Amazon is so $$ though – I’m pretty sure mine was <$15 at Walmart but then I bought it like 7 years ago.

I does get a bit tiring on the old arm though, making a big slushie 2 cubes at a time.

  6. I laughed pretty hard remembering the wicked knuckle scrapes I used to get from that thing. Guess it takes more patience than I possess.

  7. We didn’t have these fancy-shmancy gadgets when I was a kid. We had to make do with rocks. Or if we were really lucky, a piece of wood. But hey, after that 10-mile walk to school and back every day, we were too tired to play with much of anything anyway.

  8. *still* make it, or started making it again? I used to work at Urban a few years back, and they always stocked ’em, along with novelty Charlie Brown xmas trees…

  9. Is there a statute of limitations on filing a mental anguish civil suit against the manufacturer? Cuz it sounds like your childhood experience really fucked you over. I never had one of these, so I retained the quaint notion that Snoopy and the Peanuts gang represented everything wholesome and good in life. Getting a Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine that didn’t produce a refreshing treat would have crushed my fragile childhood view that the world was a kind, fun and benevolent place. Of course, that was taken care not long after by a priest’s unlubricated cock up my ass. Kidding!

  10. My husband and I bought it mostly as a joke, because we were surprised to see that it still exists. But it works all right, and the kids think it’s the most exciting thing ever.
