I take the Link train to work four days a week, and I’d love to have a place to put my coffee. I mean, we do live in Seattle, we drink lots of coffee—a few cup holders would be so nice. I can set my li’l coffee down and read my book.

P.S. If the train gods do add cup holders and people start leaving trash or their empty coffee cups on the train, I’m sorry. I’ll submit a new rant. We can’t have anything nice. I’ll hold my damn coffee.

  1. We can’t even remove the addicts who are sprawled out and passed out from the train, and this guy wants cup holders… GTFOH already!

  3. I hate to agree but they will be full of piss and needles, also good luck on getting this council to approve money for cup holders on the Link. Furthermore, have there ever been cup holders on buses? Seems more appropriate given the terrain. All in all 6/10 rant.

  4. Just wondering what other large public transit systems OP has been on that have cupholders (my guess – none) so they can report back on how that worked in real life. We’re so deprived of “nice things” because BART, CTA, MTA, Muni, Tri-Met, they all must have cupholders, right? Right???

I ride it like 20 times a week and I don’t know how you can drink or eat on the train when it’s full of homeless people and drunk users who smell like they died or shit their pants several times. SO many improves that need to be made to our train system and literally none of them involve cupholders for your coffee. Douche.

  7. Don’t they have a version of those beer can hats or coffee people?

    If not, maybe invent that.

    Because I don’t want/need to see cupholders on light rail.

  8. Find yourself a spill-proof container, and you are in compliance.

    Otherwise, grow up and keep your food and drink off the train.

    You are part of why we can’t have the nice things you reference.
