Dear Seattle Leaders and Mr. Clueless Mayor,

Get your heads out of your asses and wake the fuck up!!! Why isn’t it obvious to any of you that all you are doing about Seattle public safety is treating the symptoms and not dealing with the causes?

One of the obvious issues none of you want to address is the rising costs of housing, food, goods, and services in Seattle. People are overworked, struggling, and barely able to make ends meet, and there’s no relief in sight. The stress and pressure of these ongoing struggles to get basic needs met continue to increase homelessness, crimes, mental instability, and illness.

Instead, you’re catering to the rich and affluent with all this nonsense about cutting gig worker pay, holding up affordable housing dollars for low-income communities, and cutting services.  All you have to do is walk around the “richer” neighborhoods of Seattle and then go to the struggling neighborhoods to see and feel the stark differences in safety, cleanliness, maintenance of the roads and buildings, etc. The management of this city is appalling. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Do you need to get something off your chest? Submit an I, Anonymous and we’ll illustrate it! Send your unsigned rant, love letter, confession, or accusation to ianonymous@thestranger.com. Please remember to change the names of the innocent and the guilty.

  1. So, just solve homeless, income inequality, inflation, and similar long-standing intractable social problems? Surprised no one thought of that before, it just might work!

  2. Yeah, those fat-cats should also solve the conflict in the Middle East and climate change, or else they can expect more strongly-worded I, Anonymous posts in the very near future!

  3. Ha ha, Seattle leaders and the mayor aren’t responsible for inflation or any of that global macroeconomics shit. Might as well have addressed this comment to your barber.

  4. I can say this b/c I know for a fact that anyone that has ever experienced the tiniest amount of hardship would never say something like @2 said: maybe it would all be worth it, everyone around you working to create your silly entitled lifestyles if you just appreciated it. But you don’t, you actually believe that you have what you have because you are more intelligent than other people and it’s goddamned ridiculous and exhausting. And any real person can see straight through it. And our government and society cater to it 24/7. So yeah, HA HA

  5. @4/6 or maybe if you read these comments regularly you would recognize snark when you see it for a post that is wallowing in victimization. As @1 noted the poster wants the city to literally solve problems that have existed since the dawn of civilization. However @5 is wrong about one thing, the city/state do have something to say about the rising prices we see in Seattle. The numerous regulations, tax increases, levy’s all combine to make living here more expensive than other places. Ironically when you are talking to your barber you are also paying double the average price of a haircut as the rest of the US

The literal bottom line is if you want to be socially progressive than be prepared to pay for it and people in Seattle are paying for it.

  6. @7 what the hell is socially progressive about a bunch of rich people jerking each other off and accomplishing nothing but kicking out or disenfranchising anyone that says otherwise? You are my case in point and I am tired of you snore

  7. @8 tl:dr I want all the benefits of living in a world class city but I want someone else to pay for them. You’re the problem.

  8. @9 oh wow you are completely blind to the actual world out there. Betcha you have never worked a real day of work in your life. I’m from Seattle btw. No, you want everyone else to do everything for you and you want to be called a saint while using money and fear to get what you want. It’s cowardly. And frickin silly.

  9. OMG, you guys are making this so much more complicated than it needs to be. The solution is so simple. All you have to do to become a multimillionaire is so simple First, you get a million dollars. Then you invest it in the next big thing that is so obvious after it has become a big thing. Then you are super rich. Then you vote for republicans and become a total asshole. If I did it how hard can it be?

Oh BTW, the 112,999th time you banned me. Hahaha. I love that. The Stranger, ooooh we are all about free speech. That we agree with. Nice. Shows who you are really. hahahaha.
