God damn, I’m in awe of DoNormaal. Thoroughly established as one of the most sought-after rappers in the Pacific Northwest, DoNormaal is fucking unstoppable, and her arrival to the Bumbershoot stage cannot be missed if you dare to call yourself a Seattleite. Her ease with rhyme surpasses flow with enchantingly hypnotic rapping that is an undeniable standout in the Seattle music scene. DoNormaal’s power is unmatched, and only grows with each enigmatic, mind-blowing performance.
Former Stranger staff writer Sean Nelson called her sophomore LP, Third Daughter, "more accomplished, more ambitious, stealthier, funnier, sadder, deeper, and darker than its predecessor. Her rapping and writing have both made the kind of huge forward strides you hope will come from playing live as much as she does." If his stamp of approval isn't enough for you, I don't know what is.
There are more than 80 musical acts performing at Bumbershoot 2018, which happens this Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 31-Sept. 2) on the Seattle Center grounds. A complete breakdown of Bumbershoot 2018 Critics' Picks here, and the full Bumbershoot 2018 schedule here. DoNormaal performs 4:15–5 pm on Friday at KEXP. Some DoNormaal media below.
