ROLL BOUNCE GETS ILL (COSBY)

Capitol Club’s newish monthly (first Wednesdays), Roll Bounce, is striving to become a crucial part of the city’s dubstep/future-bass/UK-funky continuum. It shifts into high gear this week with guest Ill Cosby. Regular readers of Data Breaker and The Stranger‘s music blog, Line Out, should know about the multitalented Seattle DJ/producer. One more time for the latecomers: Ill Cosby is the city’s foremost instigator for quality future-bass music in the region via his webcast on sub.fm, his prolific Car Crash Set label, his Street Halo monthly at the Living Room bar, and his own soulful, rhythmically advanced releases. Resident DJ Dash EXPโ€”who’s remixed Mad Rad’s “Underwater”โ€”makes his own dubstep bangers, too. With Evergrimestate. Capitol Club, 10 pm, free, 21+.

FRIDAY 12/9

JUAN MACLEAN’S DIRTY HOUSE MACHINATIONS

Juan MacLean has morphed from a guitarist with post-hardcore badasses Six Finger Satellite into a world-renowned house-music producer/DJ for DFA Records. He’s recorded at least one classic track, “Happy House,” and two sleekly designed full-lengths of song-oriented house, Less Than Human and The Future Will Come. MacLean’s 2010 entry in !K7’s esteemed DJ-Kicks series comes packed with sexy chuggers and inspirational, soulful anthems, ranging from Armando‘s acid classic “Don’t Take It” to Theo Parrish’s remix of Rick Wilhite‘s “Get on Up!” to Still Going’s Reggie Wattsโ€“enhanced “Spaghetti Circus.” MacLean has transitioned to the dance-club circuit with panache. With Trashy Trash DJs. Chop Suey, 9 pm, $13, 21+.

TUESDAY 12/13

KUTMASTA KURT, KOOL KEITH’S FUNKY REDNECK

Best known for his work with rapper Kool Keith (aka Dr. Octagon and Dr. Dooom), KutMasta Kurt has provided his scatologically minded, mad-scientist partner with nasty funk beats and diabolical atmospheres that perfectly complement Keith’s twisted lyrics. Check out Kool Keith’s Sex Style and Dr. Dooom’s First Come, First Served for prime examples of the Funky Redneck’s below-the-belt sonic magic. Kurt also produced Dilated Peoples‘ underground-hiphop classic “Work the Angles,” which compensates for his Linkin Park collab. With Rushden & Diamonds, Mac Wayne, and Sideways Reign. El Corazรณn, 8 pm, $8 adv/$10 DOS, all ages.
