- Death Cab for Cutie, unplugged
Barsuk, a.k.a. Seattle’s nicest record label, started its weekend-long quinceañera last night at the Showbox. Although the show was ably-headlined by Nada Surf, there was still a very conspicuous unnamed “special guest” spot on the bill. That slot was filled by Death Cab for Cutie, who squeezed in a surprise set consisting entirely of highlights from their Barsuk albums. As if the relative absence of screaming teenagers in the audience and more human scale of the venue didn’t already distinguish this show from their now-typical arena and festival tours, the whole set was played with acoustic guitars (and some sort of bongo like percussion setup).
