Tonight’s bill showcases not only the best-in-years strength of
Seattle’s 2009 hiphop scene, but also its damn impressive breadth. On
one end of the spectrum: Fatal Lucciauno, whose bleak, noirish
gangster raps reflect a personal history of homelessness,
incarceration, and atmospheric violence (not that his hard-knocking
rhymes and well-placed punch lines depend on the added weight of
authenticity). On the far other end: Thee Satisfaction, the
Afro-futurist, space-faring, R&B-bolstered duo of
girlfriends Thee Stasia and Cat Satisfaction. In the wide middle:
the warm, G-funk inflections of Helladope and the deservedly confident
MC Candidt. (High Dive, 513 N 36th St, 632-0212. 9 pm, $7,
21+.)
