Psychedelic rock is enjoying a resurgence nationally and locally, and that phenomenon is manifested on the opening night of Hypnotikon (the legendary Silver Apples headline Saturday’s edition). Cave and Lumerians scale the peaks of propulsive, trance-inducing space rock, while Midday Veil and Fungal Abyss rank among Seattle’s farthest-out and most infernal conjurers of cosmic rock. In the Musicquarium (entry: $0), Ecstatic Cosmic Union, Tokyoidaho, and several DJs radiate yet more hues from psychedelia’s rainbow. (Disclosure: I helped curate this event.)
