Last night, after I’d spent most of the evening assisting in sorting out wedding trivia questions for an upcoming bachelorette party, I sat down with this short, but beautiful, Nick Drake documentary, A Skin Too Few: The Days of Nick Drake. Tho’ I’d seen it many times before, I needed SOMETHING drastically different to reset my brain; most of the ancient wedding traditions and local superstitions are benign, however, in some cultures, the bride’s hymen isn’t supposed to be taken by the husband, but instead by her maternal grandfather. Right, so in order to shake off the thoughts of, “Damn, you really gotta bone your grandpa to get married?!” I figured if anything, or anyone, the story of Nick Drake would be guarantee a brain reset. If you don’t know Nick Drake’s music or story, ever spend way too much time planning a bachelorette party, or even if you’re an obsessed fan who has seen this a hundred times, I suggest you watch A Skin Too Few: The Days of Nick Drake, like, right NOW. It is SO fucking good.
