This morning, Destroyer announced their new album Poison Season will be released on August 28 via Merge. The follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed Kaputt also has a new single titled “Dream Lover.”
And even if “love is on the run,” it’s never sounded happier. I know there’s been a lot of previous discussion that Destroyer’s drifted too far over the line of soft rock, but, as a child of the ’80s, I get all sorts of warm and nostalgic feelings for the smooth sax.

They’ll be swinging by Seattle on October 16 to play the Neptune. If you can’t wait that long, road trip down to Portland and see ’em at the Wonder Ballroom on September 18.
