San Francisco’s Moon Duo—keyboardist Sanae Yamada and guitarist/vocalist Ripley Johnson—won’t surprise anyone familiar with the latter’s other, more lauded outlet, Wooden Shjips. But the if it ain’t broke… axiom truly applies. Like that SF quartet, Moon Duo specialize in laser-focused, linear rock minimalism that repeatedly hits sweet spots once bull’s-eyed by the Modern Lovers, Stereolab, and Suicide. Moon Duo are less dense-sounding and incendiary than Wooden Shjips, but no less enjoyable. Cruise-control metronome-rock freaks, rejoice! (Rendezvous, 2322 Second Ave, 441-5823. 10 pm, $7, 21+.)
