Um… I’m not one to really give much of a shit about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, but to evict the remains of Alan Freed to feature Beyoncé‘s leotards seems kinda weird. I mean, Freed GAVE the museum its namesake!
An urn with Freed’s ashes was taken from its spot at the Cleveland museum on Friday, and Freed’s son will pick up his father’s remains Monday, according to Executive Director Greg Harris… according to the son, it is not a voluntary removal.
Alan Freed was a early ’50s R&B DJ and promotor in Cleveland, and he was the first person to use the term “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. So, he’s a certified heavy. The leotards are part of an larger Beyonce’ exhibit, and were those worn by Beyoncé in the “Single Ladies” video. I get it, Beyoncé is relevant, whatever (I’m sure they need to attract a younger crowd), but, dag, evicting a dead man? Ugh. For more details dig the CNN feature, or watch this local news clip.
